While finishing a family session at The Great Salt Lake, I noticed people gathering along the beach. They told me Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was visible that night, so I stayed after my clients left and watched the sky shift into twilight. Sure enough, the comet appeared—soft, bright, and unbelievably peaceful above the water. I grabbed my camera again and ended up capturing one of my favorite unexpected images of the year.
